Products, Processes & Performance

Six major steps are involved in setting parameters for design and construction.

  1. Preliminary conference
  2. Schematic design
  3. Design development
  4. Contract documents
  5. Bidding
  6. Building construction.

During the preliminary conference, architectural renderings are prepared, project decisions are made and initial drawings with specifications are submitted. The concept of a Universal Door System® allows Norco’s technology to be modified and customized for any application.

Product Overview

Because of its all-encompassing design value, the Bi-parting Northern is the most common Universal Door System specified by Norco. With this system, no portion of the bottom rails is exposed to the elements when the doors are closed. This makes it a perfect choice in areas where inclement weather is a fact of life. The door panels are controlled from inside and stack on the interior of the building.

The Bi-parting Southern offers both cost and space benefits and is typically used in climates where snow and ice are not a concern. Because the doors stack on the outside of the building, storage space does not have to be allocated inside. There is no need for door pockets and the panels are controlled from inside the building.

The Floating Door System from Norco offers the ultimate in building design and usage flexibility. Because every door panel can travel the full length of the opening, panels can be stacked anywhere along the rails. The panels can be individually powered or can operate as a group. Since there is no pre-defined stacking site, no floor space is lost to door pockets.

With a One-Way Left System from Norco , only one door pocket is required on the left side of the building front. This leaves unobstructed space on the right side for offices, lounges or other interior design requests. One-way systems are excellent for accommodating asymmetrical designs and they protect the bottom rails from poor weather conditions.

With a One-Way Right System from Norco , only one door pocket is required on the right side of the building front. This leaves unobstructed space on the left side for offices, lounges or other interior design requests. One-way systems are excellent for accommodating asymmetrical designs and they protect the bottom rails from poor weather conditions.

With the 90 Door System from Norco , building space is maximized because the door panels store individually along the interior sidewalls. Since there is no need for door pockets, the opening can be nearly as wide as the building itself. This is an important design consideration in areas where space is at a premium.
